A real… honest burger!
Love Sundays! And even more so Me-Day Sundays! Juggling life between rural Berkshire and London life can be tough so whenever I’ve got an opportunity… You’ll find me trotting around London exploring new spots in my favourite places.
Notting Hill was my spot of choice today. Briefly heard about a cute little burger joint on Portobello Road, and on the eternal quest of finding the perfect burger – couldn’t resist popping in for lunch.
Honest Burgers is a small little establishment nestled amongst an array of eateries; right next to the Electric Cinema. There’s a handful of booths catering for small groups and a bench style setup along the bar for groups or individuals. Retro style long green hanging lamps paired with an excess of exposed wood, blackboard style wall menus and mirrors follow the dress code of many successful “fashion” food spots (Burger Lobster, Pizza East et al).
The menu is simple and clear and offers obvious choices for a restaurant called Honest Burgers. A safe but pleasing menu, and the beet and apple coleslaw looked delicious (will need to order this next time! The Red Leicester cheeseburger and herb infused hand cut fries were my lunch of choice. The burger was exceptionally juicy (cooked to medium as standard) and was just the way any ‘medium’ burger should be. The bun was warm and crisp, slightly reminded me of Shake Shack style buns I had in NYC with a hint of sweetness to it- delicious. My crime-de-la-crime had to be the red onion relish, personally it glued all the burger bits together and without a doubt you HAVE to make sure you include it in your burger!
Lunch here was great! Cute atmosphere (although I was told that it was quieter than normal… So perhaps can get a little rowdy), burger was so enjoyable and staff really friendly… But perhaps charging for ‘pure (tap) water’ was a little unnecessary. If you’re heading to West London and looking for a bite to eat- definitely worth popping in!
